Position Overview:

The Division of Agriculture of the University of Arkansas is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Program Technician. This position involves a combination of laboratory and predominantly fieldwork focused on irrigation water management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repairing and installing irrigation systems.
  • Planting, harvesting, and spraying crops.
  • Collecting data manually and utilizing data logging equipment.
  • Conducting statistical analysis for field experiments.
  • Performing physical tasks, including lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Operating all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and driving long distances to various agricultural sites.
  • Testing irrigation pumps and utilizing various measurement devices to assess pumping efficiency.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanized Systems Management, Agricultural Technology Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with farming practices, irrigation systems, engines, pumps, and agricultural machinery is advantageous.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
