As a member of the KAYAK team, you will engage with a worldwide network that encompasses OpenTable and KAYAK's suite of metasearch brands, including Swoodoo, checkfelix, momondo, Cheapflights, Mundi, and HotelsCombined. KAYAK is on the lookout for a pragmatic and data-oriented Senior Director of Product Management to spearhead our Apps, AI, and Customer Acquisition & Retention Teams. In this capacity, you will oversee the innovation and development of some of KAYAK's most pioneering products, such as Trips, Price Alerts, and our AI initiatives (e.g., Ask Kayak Explore). This position demands a robust executive presence, technical expertise, and extensive knowledge in the travel sector and product management. You will champion innovation, efficiency, and market-driven strategies to address critical business challenges and surpass customer expectations.

This role necessitates working from our Berlin office at least three days a week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate product strategy for AI, Apps, and Customer Acquisition and Retention, ensuring alignment with the overarching company vision and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Oversee the execution of the product roadmap, guaranteeing timely and high-quality outcomes.
  • Leverage data-driven insights from market trends, customer feedback, and the competitive landscape to guide product priorities and decisions.
  • Simplify intricate problems and present clear, actionable solutions.
  • Encourage a culture of ambitious and rapid execution, focused on achieving impact across teams and functions.
  • Mentor and cultivate a high-performing team of product managers, ensuring excellence in PM artifacts (roadmaps, backlogs, PRDs) and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate across functions with Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Commercial teams to gather feedback and discuss trade-offs.
  • Ensure all product managers are well-versed in key usage metrics and can utilize this data to inform decisions.
  • Conduct market research to remain informed about industry trends and influence product development decisions.
  • Act as a storyteller, effectively conveying product vision and strategy throughout the company and to external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance, economics, or related fields; MBA preferred.
  • Over 10 years of proven experience in product management, ideally with a background in Apps and/or Travel, demonstrating a history of increasing responsibilities, including leadership of a product team.
  • Strong executive presence with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to articulate a team vision and translate technical concepts into easily understood material.
  • Capability to navigate ambiguity and organizational complexities, transitioning seamlessly from high-level strategy to detailed problem-solving.
  • Market-driven mindset with a solid understanding of leading companies in e-commerce, mobile, and travel sectors.
  • Technical proficiency and the capacity to drive AI and innovation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in data-driven decision-making and project management.
