Overview:
A100 ROW GmbH is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This dynamic group is responsible for maintaining the essential physical infrastructure that supports our cloud services.

Role Summary:
The Chief Engineer will oversee the performance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems within the data center, ensuring they operate at optimal efficiency. This role encompasses preventive maintenance, daily corrective actions, and emergency response protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide training and support to the Engineering team for hands-on troubleshooting and operations of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Implement and conduct site-specific training exercises for critical equipment, including generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and HVAC units.
  • Manage the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within the data centers.
  • Work autonomously with minimal direct supervision.
  • Assist in the design and construction of new facilities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all facility-related issues within the data center region, working flexible hours as necessary to ensure site stability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and troubleshoot facility-level events within established service level agreements.
  • Develop and implement new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians and vendor support teams.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts for engineering roles.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols by all staff and vendors.
  • Provide weekly availability metrics reporting.

Required Competencies:
  • Proficient in interpreting single line diagrams and control schematics.
  • Ability to adhere to support procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Capability to work at heights and utilize ladders.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working in a noisy environment with appropriate hearing protection.
