In collaboration with the Chair of Laser Technology, Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT offers a thesis opportunity.
Additive manufacturing processes, such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), enable near-net-shape production of components with increased functional integration and reduced material usage. This technology is considered crucial for increasing the sustainability of future product developments and production chains.
As part of this thesis, a methodology for evaluating the ecological impact of various additive manufacturing processes is to be developed.
Key Responsibilities- Research on the state-of-the-art of ecological assessment and current additive manufacturing processes
- Development of an evaluation scheme and comparison of key figures for additive manufacturing processes
- Comparison of the ecological effects compared to conventional processes
- Evaluation and derivation of recommendations for action
- Documentation of the results
- Studying a technical or scientific degree program (e.g. mechanical engineering, materials science, physics)
- Interest in application-oriented research and development
- Great commitment, creativity, and an independent and reliable way of working
- Good knowledge in German
- Practice-oriented thesis in an innovative working environment
