In this pivotal position, you will oversee the Crew Planning Department, ensuring the effective production of flight crew rosters while adhering to all regulatory and organizational standards. Your strategic focus will be on enhancing crew capacity planning, optimizing processes, and driving automation and efficiency. This role will also play a critical part in supporting union negotiations and guiding daily Crew Scheduling operations.
- Lead and develop the Crew Planning team, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation
- Manage the comprehensive production of flight crew rosters, including annual leave planning with an emphasis on efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements and internal policies
- Set the strategic direction for crew planning initiatives
- Establish long-term procedures and guidelines for Crew Planning and daily Crew Scheduling
- Provide both technical and functional support to team members
- Assess crew requirement calculations
- Collaborate on optimal network scheduling for crew assignments
- Generate reports, analyses, and statistics as needed
- Assist management in union-related negotiations concerning crew matters
- Coordinate with various departments to integrate crew planning inputs, including training and operational requirements
- Drive automation efforts in roster production and leave planning
- Work closely with senior management on crew-related issues
- Participate in relevant workshops, meetings, and projects to enhance crew planning expertise
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership
- Degree in a relevant field with extensive experience in flight crew management
- Background in aviation is essential
- Comprehensive understanding of complex regulatory frameworks governing crew operations
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly crew management software, ideally AIMS
- Experience in administering crew systems
- Knowledge of flight operations and airworthiness standards
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work
- Effective communication skills across various organizational levels
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with a working knowledge of German
