The Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) division is looking for a Technical Infrastructure Program Manager specializing in HVAC Systems Design and Commissioning, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated components.
This role involves initiating and overseeing various programs and projects, utilizing effective time management and personal influence to navigate complex organizational activities. The Technical Infrastructure Program Manager will support all Amazon fulfillment business units and site types, driving continuous enhancements in HVAC systems while actively engaging in the design and execution of Improvement Strategies aimed at boosting efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage programs focused on sustainable HVAC and mechanical system solutions across diverse business units.
- Independently deliver program objectives, seeking guidance when necessary and connecting with relevant personnel or technologies.
- Oversee capital project delivery related to BMS, from initial scoping and design through to construction and commissioning.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including technology providers, customers, partners, and vendors, to execute complex, cross-functional projects.
- Identify and implement enhancements in HVAC and mechanical systems to improve energy efficiency, minimize environmental impact, and optimize performance.
- Provide technical leadership in HVAC and mechanical system design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Lead cross-functional teams, manage resources, and ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team knowledge and skills.
- Monitor, assess, and report on HVAC system performance and efficiency.
- Stay informed about the latest sustainable technologies and industry trends, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Review engineering designs, construction, and commissioning documentation, performing system inspections for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Support the development and execution of preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for both new and existing equipment.
- Participate in or lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in hazard evaluations and risk assessments to comply with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to asset and site reliability.
- Analyze operational data and key performance indicators to identify areas for potential enhancement.
- Engage in the design and implementation of Asset Improvement Strategies to enhance production and uptime.
- Facilitate discussions to address concerns and Requests for Information (RFIs), requiring technical expertise and a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or relevant technical field.
- Experience in operations and reliability maintenance within manufacturing, industrial warehouse, or commercial building environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple programs/projects, employing effective time management and personal influence.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in HVAC design, construction, or maintenance.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems design and operation, including Roof Top Units, CRAC systems, and air quality control equipment.
- Understanding of psychometrics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics as they relate to HVAC applications.
- Experience with building heating/cooling load calculations to derive HVAC equipment specifications.
- Ability to interpret technical air balance (TAB) reports and recommend equipment adjustments.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements, including international building codes and ASHRAE standards.
- Experience in a supervisory or project management capacity in utility and infrastructure installation for new and existing buildings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) License, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or LEED accreditation is highly desirable.
- Six Sigma/Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
- Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot electrical control wiring and related BMS instrumentation.
- High adaptability to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities.
- Effective communication skills to successfully integrate and align a multi-disciplinary team in project delivery.
- Hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with HVAC monitoring software, such as Niagara BMS.
