We are seeking a highly skilled Statcom Expert to join our team at Elia Grid International. As a Statcom Expert, you will be responsible for delivering expertise in all aspects of HVDC projects, with a focus on converter stations.
Key Responsibilities- Define plant-specific requirements for the Statcom system, including single line diagrams and Statcom layouts.
- Edit technical guidelines for Statcom components and equipment, and their interface connection.
- Supervise and quality check the Statcom plant and its auxiliary system installation process.
- Control the entire technical implementation process, from developing concepts to awarding contracts and accepting delivery.
- Ensure technical customer requirements are implemented and compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Draw up comparisons of technical and economic alternatives, and prepare for cost-intensive investment decisions.
- Collaborate with project managers, drawing up reports, budget forecasts, and schedules.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering.
- Relevant experience with Statcom, Reactive Power Compensation systems, and primary and secondary equipment for HV substations.
- Experience in electrical network calculation, insulation coordination, and Statcom design studies.
- Knowledge of HV/MV transformer and cable design, control cables, and optical fibre cables.
- Knowledge of modelling languages, data analytics, and simulation software widely used in the energy industry.
- Fluent in English and German, with knowledge of French and/or another language a strong asset.
