We are seeking a Graduate Student (m/f/d) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar for our Navigation and Control Systems Institute in Bremen. Inertial sensors play a vital role in navigation systems utilized across various aerospace applications, including launchers and landers. Understanding the behavior of these sensors is essential for enhancing navigation systems, leading to more accurate, safer, and cost-effective missions.
Your Responsibilities:At the Institute of Space Systems in Bremen, the Navigation and Control Systems Department focuses on research, system design, development, simulation, and verification of guidance, navigation, and control systems (GNC systems) for space applications. The department also manages laboratories and facilities for testing and verifying GNC systems.
Your role will involve assisting in the development of innovative testing and characterization systems for inertial sensors. If time permits, you will also investigate sensor behavior in various operational scenarios:
- Support and advance the proof of concept for existing system proposals, which may include:
- Researching state-of-the-art technologies
- Selecting components
- Conducting CAD design
- Developing test software
- Simulating systems
- Executing tests
- Establishing test procedures
- Analyzing system feasibility and performance
- Utilizing the system for testing and characterizing existing sensors in our laboratories, time permitting.
- Practical experience with CAD modeling.
- Basic knowledge of Matlab or Python.
- Fundamental understanding of systems control.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory, workshop, or production settings.
- Experience with LabView programming.
- Proficient command of English.
- Basic understanding of electronics.
