Laboratory Support Specialist (m/f/d)
Reference Number N1970, remuneration according to TV-L, employment duration: initially 2 years with the possibility of extension, working hours: 50% of the standard working time.
Your Area of Work:
We are seeking a dedicated laboratory assistant to contribute to our research in Biological Experimental Physics.
Our team focuses on the physical characterization of biological systems.
In our two main projects, we study the axis formation during the regeneration of Hydra, a freshwater polyp about 1 cm in size that can regenerate from a disorganized mass of cells. In our second project, we investigate the time-dependent behavior of 'primordial soups', chemical mixtures where life likely originated. We employ both molecular biological techniques (gels, blots, staining, microscopy) and chemical-analytical methods (GC, HPLC, and mass spectrometry).
Additionally, we conduct various practical courses as part of the Biophysics program.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Technical management of laboratories, Maintenance, servicing, and repair of scientific equipment such as mass spectrometers and fluorescence microscopes, Assistance in the culture of Hydra, (Bio)chemical analysis of samples within research projects, Training and guidance of students and doctoral candidates in chemical, biochemical, or analytical methods, Supervision of the basic practical course in Biophysics, in collaboration with scientific staff, Procurement of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables, Technical support in research projects as needed, Instruction on relevant safety regulations and workplace safety.Your Profile:
Successfully completed vocational training in a closely related field, e.g., in chemical analysis or as a laboratory technician, biotechnical assistant, or a bachelor's degree in a scientific-technical area, Excellent command of the German language.Additionally, You Bring:
