Your Role:

As a Technical Artist, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our artistic assets fulfill both creative and technical requirements, facilitating the seamless integration of visuals into our game engine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Serve as the communication bridge between programming and design teams.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with Lead Artists, Lead Programmers, and Directors to synchronize artistic vision with technical execution.
  • Tool Development: Research and create tools tailored to project specifications.

Art Production Management:

  • Establish and uphold efficient workflows for 3D art production.
  • Assist artists and engineers in refining the 3D art pipeline.
  • Enhance completed artwork for optimal performance and validation.

Custom Scripting and Development:

  • Collaborate with programmers to develop and maintain resources and pipelines.
  • Create custom software using industry-standard scripting languages (C++, C#, Python, MELScript, etc.).
  • Design and prepare material and character pipelines for smooth integration.

Technical Troubleshooting:

  • Address complex technical challenges during development.
  • Determine necessary software and tools for game production.
  • Ensure final art maintains full visual resolution within engine constraints.

Preferred Experience with Unreal Engine:

  • Explore and supervise the implementation of rendering techniques in Unreal Engine 5 (experience with Unreal Engine is advantageous but not essential).

Quality Control and Documentation:

  • Monitor game performance, rectify material errors, and resolve collision issues.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation for the team.

Your Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 3 years in a similar role with a robust background in real-time digital art content creation, artistic workflows, and material pipelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong coding skills in C++, C#, and Python, with a solid grasp of art and design principles.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving with a keen eye for detail, balancing artistic vision with technical limitations.
  • Adaptability: Experience in iterative and agile processes, demonstrating a self-motivated and innovative mindset.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support a diverse team; strong command of the English language.

Additional Skills That Are Valued:

  • Scripting Expertise: Familiarity with MEL Script and MaxScript.
  • Unreal Engine Knowledge: Preferred but not required experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Artistic Abilities: Basic to advanced skills in modeling and texturing.
  • Support Tools: Familiarity with bug tracking software (JIRA), version management (Perforce), or relevant software (Substance Designer, Houdini, etc.).
  • Versatility: Experience in other game development areas (VFX, Animation, Lighting, Design, etc.).
  • Passion for Gaming: A deep appreciation for video games and a solid understanding of player experiences.
