Key Responsibilities

The Accounting Specialist will be a key member of the Financial Services department at Tallahassee Community College, reporting directly to the Manager. This position will be responsible for performing advanced work in the maintenance of complex accounting and reports.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Researching, creating, and maintaining college accounts receivables, ensuring accurate and timely recording of applicable EFT receipts.
  • Analyzing accounts to ensure accuracy of transactions, preparing journal entries as necessary, and researching and correcting differences identified.
  • Assisting with the completion of monthly bank reconciliation, ensuring the accuracy of general ledger transactions, and reconciling college clearing accounts.
  • Supporting the completion of the college's annual financial statements, entering year-end journal entries for financial statement presentation.
  • Assisting in testing, maintenance, and refinement of information systems software and office procedures, as well as performing other financial tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma and three (3) years of bookkeeping or clerical accounting experience, or a combination of education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedures, basic accounting principles, and skilled communication with peers and the college community.
  • Proficiency in operating personal computer software, such as word processing and spreadsheets, and using Workday software.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and complete assigned duties and tasks in a timely manner.
