Position Overview

Legal Trainees for the administrative or elective stage as part of the legal preparatory service (m/f/d)

Role Responsibilities:

The BASE provides legal trainees with the chance to engage in a minimum of three months of administrative or elective training at its Berlin location, allowing them to gain valuable insights into the operations of a federal authority focused on nuclear safety and waste disposal. As the supervisory body responsible for public involvement in the site selection process for a secure nuclear waste repository, BASE plays a crucial role in one of Germany's largest environmental initiatives. Additionally, our daily activities encompass addressing nuclear safety concerns in various supervisory and approval procedures.

During the traineeship, you will have the opportunity to explore different departments within BASE that deal with legal matters.
You may work in the Z7 (Legal Affairs) and Z6 (Procurement and Contract Management) divisions of the Central Department, with the possibility of participating in specialized departments as well. A rotational experience across several departments may also be arranged as necessary.
Currently, there is a particular interest in the involvement of legal trainees in the B3 (Public Participation according to Planning Law) sector, which is part of the B (Participation) department. The primary focus of this role involves preparing the formal statement procedure under the Site Selection Act (StandAG), which includes addressing numerous fundamental legal questions related to public participation under the StandAG, as well as the procedural connections with participation under the UVPG. Candidate Requirements:

Completion of the first legal state examination with at least a satisfactory grade Proficient knowledge of English Strong ability to articulate complex information both in writing and verbally in a clear and comprehensible manner
