Position Overview

Director of Central Services / Kaufmännische(r) Leiter*in (m/f/div)

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Role Summary

In the capacity of Director of Central Services / Kaufmännische(r) Leiter*in (m/f/div), you will oversee the Accounting, Controlling, Human Resources, Legal, and Procurement departments. This pivotal role places you within the leadership team of FLOCERT, reporting directly to the Managing Director / CEO.

A key aspect of your responsibilities will involve guiding and assisting departmental teams in formulating and executing strategies that align with FLOCERT's overarching goals. You will collaborate closely with fellow Directors and our Supervisory Board, serving as a primary liaison for our shareholder, Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International e.V. ('FI').

Additionally, you will play a significant role in the ongoing development of the company's structures and processes through active engagement with operations, business relations, and IT solutions teams.

The ideal candidate will be a reliable, values-driven, and communicative professional with a strong affinity for digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support the leaders of the five Central Service teams in their daily operations and ongoing development
  • Provide expert support and act as a strategic partner for the Managing Director and peer Directors in all financial, legal, and commercial matters
  • Ensure alignment of Central Services departmental strategies with FLOCERT's overall strategy and other sub-strategies
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for the Managing Director, FLOCERT oversight bodies, and our shareholder
  • Develop strategic plans, including budget planning and investment measures
  • Monitor and manage liquidity
  • Identify improvement projects and enhance existing structures and processes within Central Services
  • Collaborate closely with external stakeholders, including auditors and financial institutions
  • Assume predecessor's roles in Fairtrade oversight bodies, engaging with the FLOCERT Supervisory Board and relevant committees
Qualifications and Skills
  • University degree in business administration or law
  • Extensive and relevant professional experience in the outlined areas, preferably in an international context
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities
  • Inspiring and motivating leader with exceptional intercultural and communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude and a results-oriented approach
  • High affinity for business digitalization and transformation
  • Familiarity with financial statements in accordance with German Commercial Code (HGB), both for individual companies and consolidated entities
  • Proficiency in German and English, both written and verbal; additional languages (e.g., Spanish) are advantageous
