Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our flight test team, you will be responsible for planning and conducting both manned and unmanned flight test campaigns. Your primary focus will be on designing, integrating, and operating the Instrumentation System to support the flight test campaign of our new aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide planning and design for the system integration in accordance with company strategy.
- Conceptual and detailed design of the integration of various FTI components to form a cohesive system.
- Ensure adherence to flight safety analysis and DOA design handbook, as the design directly impacts the safety of flight.
- Build and test the system, including both air and ground segments, to ensure high reliability and dispatchability of the test vehicle.
- Lead FTI flight operations as assigned, coordinating a team of FTITech on the field and operating the ground station to ensure data and comms to the crew.
- Manage the supply chain to ensure parts are provided in accordance with the flight test plan.
- Propose and implement instrumentation solutions for ground tests on test aircraft, including radio receiving signals for voice and data, as well as software for data processing and post-test data sharing.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate large and complex systems into the flight test vehicle.
- Provide input to Project Management and Test Engineering Lead on project performance against established milestones.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field.
- 7+ years of experience as a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer involved in aircraft development and certification processes.
- Experience in contributing to building up a Flight Test Organization, including structure and working processes.
- Strong understanding of electrical, electronics, mechanics, and structures.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Business fluent in English; other languages like German are a plus.
- Extensive flexible mobility to support FTI operations on aircraft, including deployment with the test aircraft at multiple test locations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Sensor/Wiring installation.
- Experience with CAD/Schematic drawings tools.
- Basic programming skills, such as Python.
