Flight Test Instrumentation Role

At Volocopter GmbH, we are seeking a skilled Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our flight test team, you will be responsible for planning and conducting both manned and unmanned flight test campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate the Instrumentation System to support flight test campaigns.
  • Ensure adherence to flight safety analysis and design handbook.
  • Build and test the system to ensure high reliability and dispatchability.
  • Lead FTI flight operations, coordinating a team of FTITech on the field and operating the ground station.
  • Supply chain management to ensure parts are provided in accordance with the flight test plan.
  • Propose and implement instrumentation solutions for ground tests on test aircraft.
  • Design and agree with engineering teams how to incorporate large and complex systems in the flight test vehicle.
  • Provide input to Project Management and Test Engineering Lead on project performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable degree.
  • 7+ years of experience as FTIE involved in aircraft development and certification process.
  • Experience in contributing to building up a Flight Test Organization, structure, and working processes.
  • Very good understanding of electrical, electronics, mechanics, and structures.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Business fluent in English. Other languages like German would be a plus.
  • Extensive flexible mobility to support FTI operations on aircraft.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Sensor/Wiring installation.
  • Experience with CAD/Schematic drawings tools.
  • Basic programming skills, like Python.
