About the Role

Barrington James is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientific Developer to join their Infectious Disease Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in driving research and development efforts, contributing to breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dataset Analysis: Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights related to infectious diseases.
  • Algorithm Development: Design, implement, and document innovative algorithms for the development of vaccines targeting viruses and other infectious pathogens.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, immunologists, and clinical researchers, to design and execute data-driven studies. Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through clear and concise reports, visualizations, and presentations.
  • Bioinformatics Pipeline Management: Create and maintain bioinformatics pipelines, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Staying Current: Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, infectious disease research, and immunotherapy.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Extended experience in developing and running bioinformatics pipelines with workflow orchestration tools. Proven experience in biological data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python programming, with experience using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch. Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn). Proficiency in Linux and common software management tools: git, etc.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
  • Immunology and Virology: Familiarity with immunology and/or virology, infectious disease datasets and biological databases.
  • Continuous Integration and Test Suites: Experience with continuous integration and test suites.
  • Clinical Trial Data and Regulatory Requirements: Understanding of clinical trial data and regulatory requirements.
