We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpentry Teacher to join our team at the Lawrenceville Correctional Center. As a Carpentry Teacher, you will be responsible for providing effective Career and Technical instruction in the assigned trade area, assisting students to complete required competencies, and maintaining accurate student records.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of students in the Carpentry trade area
- Provide one-on-one teaching and guidance to students, as well as group instruction in a classroom/lab environment
- Maintain accurate and current student records, including progress reports and competency assessments
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of safety management in the lab
- Collaborate with other instructors to facilitate effective learning and instruction
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least two years' full-time or 2000 hours of verifiable experience in the Carpentry trade area within the last 5 years
- Eligibility for an Industrial/Technical Professional License/Certification in the Carpentry trade area
- Eligibility for a teaching certificate by the Department of Education
- Experience in correctional education classroom management
- Five years' experience in the Carpentry trade area
- Knowledge of all phases of the Carpentry trade area
- Ability to supervise adult inmates in a classroom/lab environment
