Job Description

In our modern, integrated steel plant, we produce a wide range of steel products in multiple production stages around the clock. To support production planning and logistics with mathematical models, we are looking for a Mathematical Modeler (m/w/d) Software Development – Operations Research in the area of Modeling and Simulation within our main department of Automation, Industrial IT and Models.

Responsibilities:

  • Development, maintenance, and improvement of optimization models, e.g., for production line planning
  • Determination and implementation of requirements as well as error correction for production planning models in collaboration with plant operators
  • Direct contact with software users or customers
  • Cooperation with comparable departments in the European corporate environment

Requirements:

  • Completed studies in Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, or Engineering (Diploma or Master)
  • Knowledge and experience in mathematical modeling, knowledge of discrete optimization or metaheuristics, or experience with mathematical solvers is an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of object-oriented programming, preferably in C# or C++
  • Practical English skills in writing and speaking
  • Abstraction ability, excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as team skills
  • High degree of self-reliance and initiative
