Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join our team at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Energy IEG. The successful candidate will be part of the Eastern Lights project, which aims to drive risk mitigation in large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCUS) in Eastern Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop passive seismic monitoring strategies using surface and downhole equipment
  • Monitor background seismicity and seismic noise measured with standard seismometers and fiber optic cables
  • Collaborate with national and international partners to advance the project's goals
  • Support in the preparation of research proposals and publications
Requirements
  • University studies in geosciences, engineering, or physics
  • Knowledge of numerical methods and experience with common programming languages (e.g. Matlab, Python)
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
