Job Overview: Join our dynamic team at ADVA Optical Networking as a Lead Hardware Development Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing our high-speed hardware solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Engage in the definition, development, and assessment of cutting-edge hardware technologies, including Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry (OTDR).
  • Product Innovation: Contribute to the conceptualization and specification of new products.
  • Component Management: Oversee the selection and qualification of components, while supporting the creation of CAD library elements.
  • PCB Design: Create detailed schematics and printed circuit board (PCB) designs, including the generation of production and assembly documentation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with PCB manufacturers and contract manufacturers to ensure efficient PCB assembly.
  • Module Testing: Facilitate module bring-up and assist in FPGA and software integration, along with module testing.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes and test/qualification outcomes.
  • Project Management: Plan and manage various development projects effectively.
Required Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: A degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in both analog and digital circuit design and simulation.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Mentor design and simulation tools (such as DxDesigner, Expedition, Hyperlynx) is advantageous.
  • FPGA Knowledge: Understanding of VHDL and FPGA technologies is a plus.
  • Personal Attributes: A collaborative team player who is self-motivated and well-organized, with a focus on problem-solving.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, with proficiency in both English and German.
