About the Role
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is seeking a highly skilled Electronics and Photonics Researcher to join our team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for developing and characterizing photodetectors, as well as designing and implementing high-speed data transmission systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop photodetectors for high-speed data transmission and sensor applications
- Develop and characterize thin film lithium niobate photonic integrated circuits (PICs)
- Design and implement quenching circuits for single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs)
- Evaluate the performance of manufactured chips in system experiments
- Collaborate with international industrial partners on exciting research projects
Requirements
- Completed Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or physics
- Knowledge of ASIC design, preferably including time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters (TIAs)
- Experience with photonic design software, such as Cadence
- Knowledge of characterization techniques for electronic circuits
- Knowledge of optics and high-frequency technology is an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
