Our mission is to revolutionize urban air travel, integrating electric air taxis into existing transport networks in major cities worldwide. Since our first crewed flight of a fully electric multicopter in 2011, we have successfully completed over 2,000 test flights globally.
Role Overview
We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking System Engineer specializing in Power Distribution to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will ensure that both high voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, along with their components, comply with functional, performance, certification, and safety standards. Your expertise will be crucial in drafting and evaluating design documentation, testing protocols, and analysis reports that facilitate the certification and operational readiness of the Power Distribution System, while ensuring seamless integration with the aircraft's electrical, mechanical, thermal, and logical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with fellow Power Distribution System Engineers to develop high voltage and low voltage components, including power centers, circuit breaker panels, emergency battery systems, and control panels. Responsibilities will be shared among team members based on expertise and project needs.
- Create and review design documentation, including requirements specifications and compliance analysis, to ensure adherence to the Power Distribution System's requirements.
- Develop and review Electrical and Communication Interface Control Documents relevant to the Power Distribution System.
- Oversee the release of Power Distribution System components and assemblies within the Aircraft Engineering Bill of Materials.
- Document compliance and non-compliance with industry standards and regulations, including SC-VTOL, ARP-4754, DO-254, DO-178, and DO-160.
- Work alongside certification engineers to ensure all design and development activities meet certification criteria.
- Evaluate supplier and partner technical documentation for compliance and address any discrepancies based on sound technical judgment.
- Assist safety engineers in understanding system requirements for safety assessments, including reviewing failure modes in FMEAs, CMAs, and PRAs.
- Partner with the testing and verification team to establish test plans that ensure successful validation of the electrical design.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in the aerospace or complex systems development industry, particularly in electrical system design and integration.
- Comprehensive understanding of aerospace standards and regulations relevant to electrical systems.
- Proficiency in requirements management tools and systems engineering principles.
- Ability to produce and assess engineering documentation, including design descriptions and compliance reports.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of aviation electrical components and systems.
- Strong grasp of electrical monitoring systems and methodologies.
- Familiarity with safety regulations related to high voltage components in aerospace.
- Experience with engineering software for design and analysis.
- Understanding of communication systems and their integration within electrical power distribution.
- Knowledge of system safety assessment principles.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering methodologies.
