Job Description

Project Overview

The Territorial Inequality in Education project aims to investigate the relationship between decentralization and policy variation in education. The project will develop comparative and longitudinal indices of decentralization and policy variation in education, examine the extent to which decentralization leads to policy diversity, and analyze the association between policy variation and territorial inequality in education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and compile data with research assistants based at Cardiff and Kent universities
  • Develop policy indicators with project members
  • Participate in data analysis and co-author articles for international journals and policy briefs
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings
  • Coordinate and administer the project under the supervision of the principal investigator

Requirements

  • PhD in political science, public policy, education sciences, political geography, or a cognate discipline

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in applying empirical qualitative and/or quantitative methods
  • Strong numeracy skills and experience with quantitative data and dataset development
  • Research experience or interest in comparative politics or public policy
  • Familiarity with multilevel governance, federalism, decentralization, or education policy
  • Ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals at an internationally recognized level
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in an international team
  • Willingness and ability to contribute to the administration of the project
  • Written and oral proficiency in English; knowledge of German and/or French is desirable
