Job Summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Electronics Systems Apprentice to join our team. As a Security Electronics Systems Apprentice, you will be responsible for installing and testing electrical and electronic systems, including security cameras, door contacts, and other field devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for cable pulls and install electrical and electronic systems with minimal assistance.
  • Pull cables, terminate cables, and test cables with minimal assistance.
  • Mount devices, including door contacts, Rex's, and cameras, with minimal assistance.
  • Determine the appropriate ESS cables to be pulled from blueprints and accurately interpret elevation and mounting details.
  • Identify the proper ESS codes and standards used for a given task and seek guidance as needed.
  • Identify different types of cables and their uses, including Class 2 & 3, Communication, Plenum, Shielded, and High Performance.
  • Install ESS cable raceways and pathways with minimal assistance.
  • Make simple conduit bends as needed with minimal assistance.
  • Assist in terminating devices and adhering to quality, safety, accident notification, and attendance requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test post-offer.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited apprenticeship program, such as Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) or Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
  • Vocational school or technical education training program, preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possesses good vision, the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
