Job Opportunity: Artistic Director at Volksbühne Berlin

We are seeking a visionary leader to helm our esteemed ensemble theater, Volksbühne Berlin. As Artistic Director, you will be responsible for shaping the artistic vision and direction of our institution, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive artistic strategy, aligning with the theater's mission and values
  • Lead a team of artists, technicians, and administrators in the production of high-quality performances and events
  • Cultivate relationships with local and international artists, fostering collaborations and partnerships
  • Manage the theater's budget and resources, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability
  • Represent the theater in the cultural landscape of Berlin and beyond, promoting its artistic excellence and social relevance
Requirements:
  • Proven track record in senior cultural and organizational management
  • Experience in German-speaking and international theater, with a deep understanding of the cultural landscape
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with artists, stakeholders, and the public
  • Fluent German language skills, with a strong understanding of the language and culture
