Overview
The Transformers' Supply Chain division is dedicated to enhancing its efforts in supplier and material sustainability, aligning with Hitachi Energy's overarching sustainability objectives.
The strategy for SCM Sustainability is structured around three core components: Supplier sustainability, material sustainability, and compliance regarding materials.
In the role of SCM Material Sustainability Lead, you will assume comprehensive responsibility for the management of the Material Sustainability pillar, overseeing everything from process development to execution and monitoring/reporting across the entire Business Unit. Collaboration with the Transformers Business Unit Sustainability Head and Global/Regional Category managers will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a roadmap for SCM Material Sustainability processes tailored to the business unit.
- Contribute to the formulation of the overall SCM Sustainability strategy.
- Establish standardized process flows at the BU level for material sustainability requirements (e.g., CBAM: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, LCA mapping: Supplier Life Cycle Assessment data mapping).
- Define and clarify roles and responsibilities within the BU for related functions and regions.
- Collaborate with the Business Unit Sustainability Head and M&S (Marketing & Sales) to set annual targets for regional SCMs, define KPIs, monitor progress, and provide regular reports.
- Identify opportunities to enhance major suppliers' material sustainability, drive decarbonization initiatives within the supply chain, increase transparency of LCA data, and develop business cases in partnership with Category managers and M&S.
- Address M&S customer inquiries for specific tenders and coordinate the collection of relevant data from key suppliers.
- Organize and deliver training on LCA and CBAM fundamentals for the SCM community, fostering best practices across categories.
- Support strategic suppliers in achieving emission reduction goals in collaboration with Global Category managers.
- Work with the Hitachi Energy SCM team to monitor emerging sustainability requirements from customers and significant legislation, ensuring clarity of these requirements for the SCM teams.
Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience in a comparable industry.
- Proficient in LCA and/or EPD development.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in strategy and roadmap development in supply base management and/or sustainability.
- Proven track record of implementing global sustainability programs in large, international organizations, particularly focusing on Materials and Supplier Sustainability (e.g., Life Cycle Assessments, carbon neutrality initiatives, or green material projects with suppliers).
- Familiarity with materials sustainability standards such as ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14021/14025, EN 15804 / EN 50693, ISO 14067, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol - Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard.
- Understanding of supplier sustainability legislation (e.g., German Supply Chain Act, third-party sustainability assessment platforms like Ecovadis) is advantageous.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to cultivate effective working relationships and inspire others.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills in global industrial environments.
- Knowledge of SAP Ariba and SAP4 Hana is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
