OBJECTIVE:
This entry-level role is designed to cultivate essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) within a guided framework, aiming for the development of independent operational capabilities following comprehensive training. Under close supervision, the technician will engage in routine maintenance and repair of medical apparatus, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational protocols.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In alignment with training and qualifications, the technician will undertake the following tasks:
Maintenance and Repair:
- Conducts timely maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of dialysis machinery and water treatment systems, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and company policies.
- Coordinates with approved vendors for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the facility.
- Engages in preventive maintenance of ancillary devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manages inventory of service components, ensuring timely return of warranty items.
- Collects and processes water/dialysate samples, contributing to quality assessment and reporting.
- Records all maintenance activities in accordance with established protocols.
- Updates tracking systems as required.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Participates in monthly quality improvement initiatives, assisting in data analysis and contributing to technical discussions.
- Collaborates with facility personnel to ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
- Reviews documentation to confirm compliance with operational parameters.
- Conducts trend analysis on water systems, proactively addressing any issues.
- Identifies and escalates non-compliance issues to management.
Inventory Management:
- Assists in managing the medical supply inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels for patient care.
Operational Support and Education:
- Maintains qualifications in water treatment equipment through annual training.
- Facilitates educational demonstrations during training sessions.
- Ensures compliance with required certifications.
- Monitors staff techniques for water system testing, ensuring adherence to policies.
- Completes all mandated training programs within the designated timeframe.
- Transports equipment as necessary with supervisory approval.
- Escalates issues to supervisors for resolution.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The role involves physical activity, including lifting and standing for extended periods. Employees may be exposed to chemicals and high-voltage equipment, with appropriate safety gear provided. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is required.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate Degree in electronics or biomedical technology is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license is necessary.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 0 – 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in a medical or technical environment is beneficial.
- Manual dexterity and proficiency with hand tools are required.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Completion of all required training within the first two years of employment is expected.
