Position Overview:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Partner with executive leadership to articulate and refine the company’s digital growth strategy, ensuring alignment of acquisition and expansion objectives with overarching business goals.
  • Market Analysis: Execute thorough market research to pinpoint potential acquisition targets, analyzing industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies pertinent to digital publishing.
  • Opportunity Sourcing: Identify and assess potential acquisition prospects, utilizing industry connections, market insights, and collaborations to build a robust deal pipeline that aligns with our digital growth strategy.
  • Financial Assessment and Negotiation: Work alongside cross-functional teams, including corporate M&A, legal, and operational units, to conduct financial evaluations, structure deals, and negotiate terms with target entities, aiming for outcomes that align with corporate objectives.
  • Due Diligence Management: Oversee various due diligence processes with internal teams, evaluating the operational, financial, and technological facets of potential acquisitions to ensure strategic alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Transaction Oversight: Engage in the complete acquisition lifecycle, collaborating closely with M&A, legal, finance, and operational teams to ensure the seamless execution of agreements and integrations.
  • Integration Strategy: Coordinate with internal stakeholders to formulate and implement integration strategies for acquired entities, ensuring smooth transitions and maximizing synergies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including executives from target companies, advisors, and industry contacts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience and success in business development and M&A initiatives within the digital landscape, ideally in publishing, media, or e-commerce.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related discipline; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Strong financial expertise with a background in financial modeling, valuation methods, and deal structuring.
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital business frameworks, emerging technologies, and market trends influencing the publishing sector.
  • Outstanding analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities, with a talent for influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Capacity to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple initiatives concurrently while adhering to tight deadlines.
  • A robust networker with extensive knowledge of the publishing and commerce landscapes in the UK and Germany.
  • Ability to foster relationships across diverse countries.
  • A confident, enthusiastic demeanor balanced with humility.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
