Job Title: Linux System Administrator

The Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (MPCDF) is a leading center for high-performance computing and data-intensive projects. We are seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our data services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and improve the MPCDF data services infrastructure
  • Ensure the smooth operation of Linux-based systems and services
  • Collaborate with the data division team to develop and implement new solutions
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of Linux system administration and scripting
  • Experience with modern DevOps procedures and data-driven services
  • Good communication skills in English and German
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible) and virtualization techniques (VMWare, Proxmox)
  • Familiarity with GitLab and other web-based services
  • Interest in science and research
