Postdoctoral Researcher in Robotics (m/f/d)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral researcher, ideally a recent or soon-to-be PhD graduate, to become a vital member of our Environmental Robotics team at the Technical University of Munich. Under the guidance of Prof. Sami Haddadin, you will enhance our ongoing projects focused on mobile robotic systems dedicated to environmental observation and conservation.
You will have the opportunity to formulate your own scientific concepts within the framework of our research objectives. We are committed to providing comprehensive support for publishing your findings in leading conferences such as IEEE ICRA & IROS, as well as in relevant academic journals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop algorithms that integrate aerial, terrestrial, and aquatic robots, enabling each domain to leverage its unique strengths for effective monitoring missions.
- Create a multi-domain framework for both autonomous and semi-autonomous navigation.
- Design and implement a Remote Satellite Lab along with its digital twin simulation.
- Plan and execute experimental setups for real-time field testing of autonomous robotic systems.
- Conduct outdoor missions at various aquatic locations.
- Contribute to teaching activities at the Master's and/or Bachelor's level.
- Mentor Master and Bachelor students in their research projects.
Required Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or PhD in robotics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in mobile manipulation and control systems for autonomous vehicles.
- Practical experience in developing autonomous and mobile robotic systems, including both hardware and software components.
- Strong programming skills in C++ or Python, with proficiency in ROS.
- Excellent command of the English language, with a good understanding of German.
- Strong analytical abilities, proactive interpersonal skills, and effective communication.
- High motivation and eagerness to collaborate within an international and interdisciplinary team.
