Daily Responsibilities
As a Product Design Engineer (f/m/d) in the Product Lifecycle Engineering team, you will apply your CAD skills and analytical mindset to design and enhance product features that elevate the performance, dependability, and cost-effectiveness of our centrifugal compressor range, particularly focusing on single-shaft models. You will act as a technical consultant to the product management and production engineering teams, assisting in the resolution of design challenges. This international role allows you to make a significant impact on the design of all legacy compressors across the TC fleet, for both new unit and service applications, thus directly influencing the company's performance objectives and energy transition initiatives.
Key Contributions
- Employ CAD tools to model and implement design changes for single-shaft compressors, supporting modernization efforts and product enhancement projects.
- Engage in the Product Development Process (PDP) by contributing innovative ideas, participating in PDP gate reviews, and supporting the Product Management team in the rollout of new product solutions.
- Mentor production engineering and technical field support teams to address technical challenges within the compressor fleet.
- Maintain advanced knowledge in mechanical design and compressor technology, including cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.
- Educate the TC Engineering team on the design principles associated with single-shaft compressors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in the design of rotating equipment, with a specific focus on centrifugal compressors. Preference for experience with our compressor models: STC-SVm, STC-SV/SH, DATUM, or legacy products.
- Proficient in using NX for creating 3D solid models, along with a strong understanding of drafting standards for general dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experienced in applying design for manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure designs are optimized for cost, manufacturability, and functionality.
- Ability to challenge established norms in design processes and standards.
- Capable of simplifying and articulating complex problems in a way that is easily understood by non-specialists.
- Fluent in German and English, with a willingness to travel domestically and internationally (less than 15%).
