Position Overview: The Branch Lead for Climate Strategy & Risk is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of innovative solutions, knowledge management, and training initiatives within the Climate Strategy & Risk team in Germany. This role involves close collaboration with the Global Climate Strategy Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact in Germany for all matters related to Climate Strategy & Risk, overseeing project sales and execution while managing a team of professionals.
- Maintain an overview of team competencies, recommending suitable team members and configurations for projects based on their skills, experience, and developmental goals.
- Ensure alignment between team capabilities and the evolving business needs of the branch, in coordination with country leadership and support functions.
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering an environment focused on continuous improvement, growth, and high-quality project delivery.
- Act as a key representative for the branch within the global community of climate strategy experts.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise in climate-related issues, recognized both internally and externally.
- Contribute high-level domain knowledge while managing significant transformational initiatives.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client contacts, actively engaging with executive sponsors.
- Play a proactive role in the sales process for climate strategy and risk-related projects.
Success Factors:
- Ability to quickly assess client needs and formulate relevant recommendations regarding climate strategy and risk.
- Innovative application of climate expertise to address unique client challenges within key accounts.
- Proficiency in developing creative solutions to sustainability issues, effectively communicating the rationale for transformative changes.
- Recognized as a leader within multiple teams and the global climate strategy community.
Candidate Profile:
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the private sector, ideally with consulting experience.
- Expertise in Climate Strategy & Risk, including goal setting, mitigation strategies, risk assessment, and carbon accounting frameworks.
- A Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong scientific background coupled with intellectual curiosity and business acumen.
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams towards achieving objectives.
- Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with stakeholders at various levels.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in German is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills for external representation and marketing initiatives.
- A commitment to transparency, rigor, and practicality in providing actionable recommendations.
- Ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and persuasive manner to diverse audiences.
