About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Photonics Systems Integration Specialist (m/f/d). In this position, you will collaborate with one of our affiliated companies, spearheading the exploration, implementation, and evaluation of various solutions for laser integration and fiber-to-chip coupling in integrated photonic transceivers. Your primary focus will be on tailoring existing market solutions to meet our specific needs.

This role requires you to develop efficient and scalable solutions, ensuring exceptional performance and integration of photonic systems. A proactive approach to technology is essential, with an emphasis on innovation and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve low-loss chip-to-fiber coupling and determine light source selection within the first year
  • Conceive and develop new architectural concepts and design methodologies for the packaging of integrated photonic systems in accordance with industry trends and standards
  • Oversee the development of packaging solutions from concept to production, ensuring scalability and efficiency
  • Collaborate with external partners to create and present a packaging solution within the initial 18 months
  • Conduct complex optical tests and work with cross-functional teams to enhance and optimize the packaging process
Your Qualifications
  • Possess a PhD or have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the photonics sector
  • Exhibit expertise in photonic packaging and/or laser integration
  • Familiarity with OSAT trends
  • Strong understanding of thermal packaging challenges, including heat transfer, as well as mechanical aspects such as strain and stress
  • Experience in designing photonic passive components
  • Proficient in using at least one simulation tool such as Lumerical, Comsol, Zemax, or similar software
  • Excellent English communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts and collaborating with diverse teams
  • Proficiency in the German language is a plus
