Your Role
The Claims and Contract Management Specialist is integral to the project, assisting in the development of contracts and the drafting of official correspondence related to contractual matters. Additionally, this role involves managing supplements, overruns, and various claims from contractors, focusing on mitigating their impact.
The responsibilities of the Claims and Contract Management Specialist include:
- Overseeing the organizational and operational aspects of contract and claim management.
- Collaborating on the formulation of inquiries and tenders, as well as evaluating offers and contract documents concerning project-specific claim strategies.
- Assisting the commercial project manager in preparing and negotiating contracts with contractors.
- Monitoring contract execution, ensuring effective management of contracts and amendments, and supporting risk management related to contracts.
- Evaluating performance discrepancies and their implications on the construction process, presenting time and financial impacts (comparison of targets vs. actuals).
- Advising the commercial project manager and project teams on contractual matters and potential claims, while providing support in claim defense and necessary organizational actions.
- Managing contract-related correspondence and pursuing registered claims.
- Participating in contract discussions and supplementary negotiations.
- Establishing and maintaining a standardized system for processing supplements and claims, as well as developing and implementing relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance contract management.
- Analyzing and sharing insights from individual projects (lessons learned).
Your Qualifications
- A degree in economics, business administration, or a technical field such as civil engineering or law.
- Additional technical qualifications are advantageous.
- Several years of substantial professional experience in national and international project environments, preferably in energy plant construction.
- Strong understanding of contract law, including service and work contract law, construction contract law, and relevant regulations.
- Technical acumen combined with a commercial perspective, supported by a solid grasp of contract law and claim management.
- Proficient IT skills, particularly in MS Office, with SAP knowledge being a plus.
- Team-oriented with perseverance, resilience, and adaptability.
- Proactive approach and readiness to assume responsibility with a strong customer focus.
- Strategic and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Confident demeanor with negotiation skills in an intercultural context.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Temporary on-site assignments at project locations may be required.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
