Contract and Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract & Claim Manager to join our Project Support Team in Gelsenkirchen.

Your Responsibilities- Support the project in formulating contracts and creating official business letters related to the contract.
- Process supplements, overruns, and other claims from contractors to defend against or minimize their impact.
- Collaborate in designing enquiries and tenders, reviewing offers and contract documents, and developing project and supplier-specific claim strategies.
- Support the commercial project manager in drafting contracts and negotiating with contractors.
- Ensure contract and addendum management, support contract-related risk management, and analyze performance deviations and their impact on the construction process.
- Advise the commercial project manager and project teams on contractual issues and claim potentials, and provide support in defending against claims and initiating organizational measures.
- Manage contract-related correspondence and pursue registered claims.
- Participate in contract discussions and supplementary negotiations.
- Develop and implement a standardized processing system for supplements and claims, and define and ensure suitable key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize contract processing management.
- Analyze and transfer experience between individual projects (lessons learned).
- Completed studies in economics, business administration, or a technical field.
- Additional technical training is an advantage.
- Several years of professional experience in national and international project business, ideally in energy plant construction.
- Sound knowledge of contract law in service and work contract law, construction contract law, and VOB/HOAI/BGB/FIDIC.
- Technical understanding combined with a commercial focus, rounded off by sound knowledge of contract law and claim management.
- Very good IT skills, particularly in MS Office and ideally SAP.
- Ability to work in a team, perseverance, resilience, and flexibility.
- Hands-on mentality and willingness to take on responsibility with a strong customer focus (internal & external).
- Strong strategic and conceptual way of working.
- Very good communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Confident and serious demeanor, as well as negotiation skills in an intercultural environment.
- Willingness to travel (Germany & abroad) and temporary on-site deployment at project locations and construction sites.
- Business fluent in German and English, written and spoken.
