Position Overview

The Senior Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer is a proficient specialist engaged in tasks that require significant judgment. The focus is on assignments that utilize advanced skilled judgment and possess a profound understanding of standard operating procedures. This role supports the overall team in various capacities.

Key Responsibilities

Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Conducts specialized preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for critical facility components and systems.
  • Executes moderately complex repairs, maintenance, installations, and on-site inspections for critical facility systems.
  • Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and addresses alarms for specialized issues requiring significant judgment; adheres to standard procedures and offers recommendations for solutions.
  • Operates and maintains plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
  • Implements measures for energy efficiency.
  • Collaborates with team members to coordinate critical infrastructures.
  • Undertakes assignments that necessitate considerable judgment and initiative, understanding the implications of work and providing recommendations for solutions.

Vendor Coordination

  • Directs and coordinates vendors on skilled tasks to ensure maintenance activities meet standards and requirements.
  • Assists in the creation and submission of maintenance scripts.
  • Monitors and implements the work approval process for service providers concerning critical maintenance.
  • Collaborates with vendors to update technical files for plants and equipment, ensuring accuracy and currency.

Site Administration & Incident Management

  • Maintains specialized site logs and data collection for issuing permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) and scripts.
  • Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and proposes solutions.
  • Responds to all on-site incidents, including failures and significant issues.
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recommends solutions.
  • Supports on-site personnel during incidents.
  • Ensures adherence to processes and procedures.

Work Orders & Additional Projects

  • Completes skilled work requests and circuit installations.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment, supporting auxiliary equipment and machines to minimize downtime.
  • Implements moderate changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed.
  • Engages in more complex infrastructure projects.
  • Supports lifecycle maintenance and critical replacements.
  • May recommend infrastructure projects.

Collaboration

  • Works collaboratively with others to resolve challenging facility incidents.
  • Effectively collaborates within the department and may mentor team members on skilled maintenance activities.
  • Informs stakeholders of inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment.
  • Acts as a mentor to others in incident resolution.

Qualifications

  • Proven years of experience in a relevant field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
