By leveraging technology, we aim to combat climate change and create a sustainable future for generations to come. Our clientele includes various municipalities and large transportation organizations in Germany, and we are now looking to expand our reach into other European markets.
Backend Engineer (Contract / Full-Time / Remote)
We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer to enhance our product development team. As a vital member of the backend division, you will contribute to building the core components that ensure our platform's robustness and scalability, enabling deployment in cities worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in developing scalable backend systems using the technologies integral to our platform.
Role Duties:
- Develop applications based on Spring with a microservices architecture;
- Ensure compliance with architectural standards and industry best practices;
- Coordinate API contracts with other teams (mobile & web);
- Oversee backend deployment processes (GitLab CI/CD);
- Collaborate with technical architects, testing teams, and UI developers for seamless product feature delivery;
- Conduct thorough code reviews;
- Maintain high code quality standards;
- Participate in our agile development methodology and guide fellow backend developers.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline;
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in backend engineering;
- Previous remote work experience is preferred;
- Strong software design and algorithmic skills;
- Eagerness to learn new technologies;
- Proficient in English (both written and spoken);
- Candidates located in the EU Timezone (CET +/- 2).
- Proficient in Object-Oriented Programming with Java;
- Experience with the Spring Framework and Microservice Architectures;
- Solid understanding of source control management and CI/CD practices;
- Familiarity with Git for source control;
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
- Knowledge of WebFlux and RxJava;
- PhD in Computer Science or a related field;
- Experience with Kubernetes and streaming technologies like Kafka;
- Familiarity with payment gateways such as Stripe;
- Understanding of routing algorithms;
- Experience in developing SaaS products;
- Background in big data-driven product development.
