Position Overview

The Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Software Development aimed at enhancing behavioral quantification methodologies.

Research Environment

Our institute fosters a collaborative atmosphere where basic scientists and clinicians unite to explore the complexities of brain disorders. We aim to develop innovative prevention and treatment strategies through translational research, supported by advanced psychiatric facilities and diverse research groups.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the maintenance and enhancement of the DeepOF Python package, a cutting-edge tool for analyzing pose estimation data in rodents.
  • Develop new algorithms for both supervised and unsupervised analysis of animal motion.
  • Extend the software capabilities to include various animal models and integrate multimodal data such as heart rate and neural activity.
  • Collaborate with international research teams to implement and refine the software.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A PhD in Biology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience in functional and object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience in time series analysis and a strong interest in the biological mechanisms of stress-related disorders.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
