We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research in the field of public economics and the political economy of governance.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct thematic research on the geo-economic conflict and competition between the U.S. and China, focusing on trade policy, tax policy, and industrial policy. You will use game-theoretic, empirical, and experimental tools from economics and political science to analyze and understand the complex relationships between these factors.

Requirements
  • PhD in economics or political science with a focus on applied game theory, international public finance, or political economy
  • Excellent knowledge of game theory, econometrics, and statistical analysis
  • Experience in designing, programming, and evaluating laboratory-based or internet-based experiments
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; command of German is an advantage
What We Offer

We offer a two-year position with the opportunity to qualify for positions with higher seniority at universities and research institutions through scientific work and publishing. Remuneration is based on qualifications and professional experience according to the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD Bund). In addition, social benefits are granted according to the regulations for the public service (Bund).
