Contract Manager

Uniper is seeking a highly skilled Contract & Claim Manager to join our Project Support Team in Gelsenkirchen.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the project in the formulation of contracts and the creation of official business letters relating to the contract. They will also process supplements, overruns, and other claims from contractors with the aim of defending against them or minimizing their impact.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and manage contract and claim management
- Collaborate in the design of enquiries and tenders, as well as the review of offers and contract documents with regard to project and supplier-specific claim strategies
- Support the commercial project manager in drawing up contracts and drafting contracts with contractors in projects
- Accompany the execution of contracts, including ensuring contract and addendum management and supporting contract-related risk management
- Analyze performance deviations and their impact on the construction process, as well as present the time and financial consequences (target/actual comparison)
- Advise the commercial project manager and the project teams with regard to contractual issues and claim potentials, as well as provide support in defending against claims and initiating the necessary organizational measures
- Support in the management of contract-related correspondence and the pursuit of registered claims
- Participate in contract discussions and supplementary negotiations
- Define and ensure a standardized processing system for supplements and claims, as well as develop and implement contract-relevant and suitable key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize contract processing management
- Analyze and transfer experience between the individual projects (lessons learned)
- Successfully completed studies in an economics/business administration or technical field, e.g. economics, civil engineering, or (business) law
- Additional technical training would be an advantage
- Several years of sound professional experience in national and international project business, ideally in energy plant construction
- Sound knowledge of contract law in service and work contract law, construction contract law, and VOB/HOAI/BGB/FIDIC
- Technical understanding in combination with a commercial focus, rounded off by sound knowledge of contract law and claim management
- Very good IT skills, in particular MS Office and ideally SAP skills
- Ability to work in a team (interdisciplinary), perseverance, resilience, and flexibility
- Hands-on mentality and willingness to take on responsibility with a strong customer focus (internal & external)
- Strong strategic and conceptual way of working
- Very good communication and conflict resolution skills
- Confident and serious demeanor as well as negotiation skills in an intercultural environment
- Willingness to travel (Germany & abroad)
- Temporary on-site deployment at our project locations and on our project construction sites
- Business fluent in German and English, written and spoken
