System & Study Engineer for HVDC Protection and Development

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled System & Study Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy in the Grid Solutions business unit. As a key member of our HVDC Protection team, you will be responsible for the multifunctional optimization and development of complex HVDC overall systems.

About the Role

This is a full-time position in our Erlangen, Germany office, with the possibility of remote work. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other teams in the HVDC area to develop and optimize complex HVDC overall systems
  • Support research and development topics for HVDC projects
  • Perform functional and performance tests in SIMULINK and hardware in the loop with real-time simulation systems
  • Contribute to the programming of software for DC protection and measurement systems
  • Perform DC protection coordination studies for HVDC systems
  • Support the creation of DC protection concepts for different applications
  • Be responsible for the offer, engineering phase, performance, and customer acceptance tests, as well as support during plant commissioning and handover to the customer worldwide

Requirements

  • Experience in high voltage transmission or a related field
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Very good German and English language skills
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/SIMULINK and real-time and embedded software
  • Experience in software project planning and testing of systems is an asset
  • Initial experience in control and protection is an advantage
  • University degree in electrical engineering, preferably in power electronics, high voltage, or energy transmission systems
