Position Overview: Under the guidance of the Manager of PTPU, the Senior Programme Specialist is tasked with overseeing and coordinating various initiatives related to Online Learning and Education (OLE). This role is pivotal in ensuring alignment with UNITAR's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and manage the planning, execution, assessment, and reporting of educational projects, ensuring coherence with UNITAR's overarching framework.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including potential donors, to enhance support for UNITAR's educational initiatives.
- Facilitate collaboration across UNITAR and with external entities such as governments, NGOs, and the private sector to ensure effective educational programming.
- Address academic tasks as they arise, providing support to the supervisor as needed.
- Evaluate training requirements and design learning interventions in partnership with academic institutions.
- Develop and implement academic strategies that align with the long-term vision of the programme.
- Supervise the Online Learning and Education Section staff, ensuring high performance and effective outcomes.
- Engage in marketing and public relations activities to promote the Programme and foster new partnerships.
- Coordinate outreach efforts and events to increase visibility and engagement.
- Identify opportunities for programme enhancement and incubate innovative methodologies to diversify and improve the educational portfolio.
- Ensure the integration of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in learning materials and reports, maintaining high-quality standards.
Support Functions:
- Assist the Programme Manager by preparing documents, briefing materials, and presentations.
- Deliver training sessions as required.
- Produce various written outputs as requested.
Expected Results:
- Effective coordination and execution of educational activities.
- Strategic and technical contributions that enhance programme effectiveness.
- Identification of synergies and funding opportunities.
- Support in promoting and disseminating programme outputs.
- Successful representation of the Programme at relevant events and meetings.

Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management within international affairs, peacebuilding, and training development.
- Master's degree or equivalent in International Relations, Political Science, Education, Peace and Security, or a related field.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage.
