Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified candidate for a W2 Professorship in Architectural Science and Theory. This role is pivotal in advancing the field of architecture through both research and education.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Representing architectural science and theory in academic research and teaching.
  • Investigating and conveying the intricate spatial and societal processes involved in architectural production and transformation.
  • Focusing on the complex networks and social dynamics within architecture, while considering global perspectives.
  • Critically examining the role of architecture in contemporary society, particularly in relation to global challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, social inequalities, and structural disadvantages.
  • Developing innovative approaches to original architectural science and advancing theoretical frameworks in spatial design.
  • Strengthening interdisciplinary research at the institution concerning space production and societal change, while establishing a distinct and innovative research profile.
  • Securing external funding from various sources, including governmental research funding bodies, foundations, and industry.
  • Teaching foundational methodologies in architectural science and theory, overseeing relevant modules, and supervising qualification projects.
  • Conducting courses and research projects in English.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess:

  • A strong academic background, typically evidenced by a relevant doctoral degree in architectural science or theory.
  • A research focus on architectural science is preferred.
  • Experience in securing external funding.
  • Experience in mentoring early-career researchers is desirable.
  • Interdisciplinary connections, particularly with urban planning and civil engineering, are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and competence through several years of independent and evaluated university-level instruction.
