Security Architect Embedded Software Expert

About the Role

Festo SE & Co. KG is seeking a highly skilled Security Architect to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in protecting our factory of the future from cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze security threats and risks for existing and new products, and propose changes to their architecture throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain concepts and create requirements for embedded systems with a focus on security in industrial communication systems and automation systems.
  • Conduct specification and code reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and system architects to improve the security properties of new concepts, and support project teams in implementing security-specific topics.
  • Communicate with the Product Security Officer, security experts in central departments, and decision-makers, as well as external service providers and consultants.
  • Work with the Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) to identify, document, and address vulnerabilities.
  • Sensitize employees to the observance of security regulations through training, consulting, and promoting a security culture within the team.
Requirements
  • Completed studies in computer science, information security, electrical engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • High affinity for cybersecurity and enthusiasm for further development in this area; optional specialization and certifications in cybersecurity, including advanced knowledge of the Security Development Lifecycle and requirements (IEC-4-1 and IEC-4-2).
  • Experience in modeling data flow diagrams and conducting threat and risk analyses; experience with penetration tests would also be beneficial.
  • High awareness of software quality and testability; preferably also proven experience in creating secure embedded software for real-time applications in object-oriented C++.
  • Optional also basic knowledge of common industrial communication solutions such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP.
  • Very good communication skills in German and English.
  • High level of initiative, excellent communication and presentation skills, and enjoyment of working in international teams.
