Internship in Procurement for Exterior Components

Role Overview: This internship position is situated within the Procurement & Supplier Quality department at Mercedes-Benz, focusing on the acquisition of essential components for our vehicles.
Department Focus: The Procurement team is tasked with managing a substantial purchasing volume while ensuring the quality of all procured parts. Our collaboration spans across numerous suppliers both domestically and internationally, facilitating the supply of materials to production facilities worldwide.
Module Purchasing: The MP/X Center is dedicated to the procurement of exterior and chassis components. This includes conducting market analyses, negotiating contracts, and selecting global suppliers to formulate effective sourcing strategies.
Project Management: The team oversees the procurement process for various vehicle series, coordinating decisions and driving localization efforts globally. We maintain supplier quality throughout the vehicle lifecycle, utilizing various quality methodologies for continuous improvement.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and participation of supplier negotiations and meetings.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support operational purchasing activities, including documentation preparation in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Contribute to the evaluation and negotiation of new contracts and sourcing scopes.
- Prepare inquiry documents and compile offers.
- Develop parts CVs and analyze various business cases based on projected quantities and costs.
- Monitor change management processes and coordinate with development teams.
- Help organize workshops and supplier presentations.
- Conduct independent analyses of purchasing metrics.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in economics, business administration, or a related field.
- Fluent in both written and spoken German and English.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Experience in creating presentation materials is advantageous.
- Demonstrated commitment, reliability, and teamwork skills.
- Possess an analytical mindset and strategic approach to tasks.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Genuine interest in exploring new topics.
