Job Title: Detector Test Specialist

The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics is seeking a highly skilled Detector Test Specialist to join its team in the development of satellite instrumentation. As a key member of the detector development team, you will be responsible for implementing and characterizing DEPFET sensors manufactured by the Semiconductor Laboratory of the Max Planck Society.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute experiments at complex measurement setups
  • Characterize DEPFET detectors through experiment and analysis
  • Define and document test requirements and create test procedures
  • Support the verification of other instrument components
  • Analyze data to determine characteristic detector properties
  • Interpret and document results
  • Extend data analysis programs
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Completed scientific university degree in physics or equivalent skills and experience
  • Knowledge of semiconductor detectors
  • Practical experience in dealing with measurement technology and data analysis
  • Good team communication in written and spoken English
  • Good knowledge of C++, ideally first contact with the ROOT framework, is an advantage

The full-time position is initially for three years.
