Professorship in Sociology with a Focus on Transformative Social Research

Technische Universität Dortmund, with its 17 faculties spanning natural sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences, stands as a vibrant institution committed to excellence in research, education, talent development, and knowledge transfer. The Faculty of Social Sciences encompasses various sociological teaching and research domains, including the Social Research Center.
Position Profile
The successful candidate will possess a well-defined sociological research profile, with significant connections to transformative social research and the core themes of the Social Research Center. A research orientation that integrates practical approaches with theoretical reflection is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate is expected to be willing to assume a leadership role within the Social Research Center in the future. Engagement in research networks and collaborations both within and outside the university is anticipated, alongside a commitment to fostering the academic community. Participation in the faculty's teaching activities is also expected.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have completed their doctorate with distinction and will either hold a habilitation or possess equivalent qualifications. They should have relevant publications in recognized journals, particularly those with peer review, published nationally and internationally, and demonstrate experience in securing competitive third-party funding. International experience and networking are also preferred. For the W3 professorship, continuous high-level international publication achievements and significant visibility of scientific contributions in recent years are expected. Candidates should also have a proven track record in independent competitive third-party funding, including collaborative projects, and be integrated into international research networks. All applicants should demonstrate potential for outstanding teaching performance and be prepared to conduct courses in English. Social and leadership skills, along with a willingness to engage in academic self-administration, will complete the profile.
