The Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine Engineering Team is responsible for the development and maintenance of a diverse product portfolio and an ambitious development roadmap.
Our multidisciplinary team comprises engineers from various backgrounds, including electronics, software, mechanical, system engineering, and system testing, all collaborating to create top-tier products and solutions.
With our ambitious product roadmap, we are expanding our teams and looking for a skilled Lead Technical Solutions Engineer to join us.
In this role, you will serve as the primary contact within Engineering for addressing Engineering-related issues that arise from customers, production, or quality concerns, requiring potential Engineering investigation and solution development. Key responsibilities include:
- Data collection and analysis
- Lab-based issue triage and fault reproduction
- Comprehensive technical investigation and solution generation
- Reporting, documentation, planning estimation, and stakeholder liaison
Key components of your workflow will involve:
- Collecting and rationalizing data from initial issue reports from various sources, following Engineering processes.
- Evaluating whether sufficient preliminary work has been conducted by Production Engineering or Field Service to determine if Engineering intervention is necessary.
- Identifying root cause issues when possible, or gathering enough data to document the problem for handover to the wider team for solution implementation.
- Providing regular status updates to stakeholders during triage and investigation, tailoring reports to suit the audience.
- Following the Non Conformance Report (NCR) process for any formal issues, documenting solutions or root cause analyses performed.
- Engaging in detailed discussions with Production Engineering and Supplier Quality for production-related issues requiring Engineering changes.
About You:
- Proven ability to address system-wide issues in complex technical environments
- Strong investigation and debugging skills for intricate technical problems
- Excellent communication, presentation, and explanatory skills (both written and verbal)
- Effective negotiation and liaison/reporting skills
- Detail-oriented and solution-focused with a customer-centric mindset
- Capable of managing your own work and broader solution delivery
- Proficient IT skills and experience with fault ticketing systems, such as Jira and Zendesk
- Familiarity with issue tracking in QA processes for production or software & system testing
- Self-sufficient when necessary, yet a collaborative team player
- Composed under pressure, maintaining focus on achieving solutions
