We are seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist (f/m/d) to join our team at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing sustainable and FAIR research data management solutions as part of the Helmholtz DataHub.
About the Institute
The Karlsruher Institut für Technologie is one of the leading research institutes in the field of environmental research in Germany. Our scientists investigate complex processes in our climate system, develop innovative methods for climate modeling and analysis, and operate a variety of measurement systems as part of national and international observation networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Integration: Connect various data sources from model and measurement data and create a uniform data landscape for our research projects.
- Data Management: Develop and optimize our geospatial infrastructure (THREDDs Server, Sensor Management System, FROST) and integrate it into existing geospatial interfaces (OGC, WMS).
- Data Flows & Interfaces: Develop and integrate existing databases/sources. Design and implement interfaces (STA, REST, GraphQL).
- Data Visualization: Integrate visualization solutions into our web portal and develop web applications to visualize scientific data.
- Professional Exchange: Take an active part in our cross-center and cross-institute working groups.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced IT Specialist (f/m/d) with a scientific university degree in computer science or a related field. Practical experience in the development and maintenance of geodata infrastructures, as well as in-depth knowledge of NetCDF, STA, REST, databases (e.g. PostgreSQL), and programming languages such as Python are desired. You should enjoy working in a team and value the exchange with colleagues from different disciplines. You should recognize challenges independently and work on them independently and in coordination with your team. You should also be open to new technologies related to research data management and willing to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics.

The salary category is 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
