Job Summary
We are seeking a highly creative and innovative Apparel Designer to join our team at Adidas. As a Senior Apparel Designer, you will be responsible for designing cutting-edge product innovations that set the industry standard for athletic performance.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technical performance apparel, across men's and women's products, and ideally, cross-category experience. You will need to have an advanced knowledge of construction, materialization, and patterning, as well as the ability to fuse this baseline knowledge with non-traditional and unexpected sources of inspiration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative apparel products that meet the needs of our athletes and consumers.
- Research and analyze athlete and consumer insights to drive aesthetic and functional aspects of each project.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and innovations, and apply this knowledge to our products.
- Communicate and share new insights and best practices with the innovation team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring product ideas to life.
- Lead and develop materials, technologies, and construction ideas through sampling.
- Present product ideas and details with clarity and confidence.
- Travel to marketplaces or manufacturing partners as needed.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of innovation, industry, consumer trend, sports, and athletic culture.
- Superior technical understanding of material, textile, footwear, and/or apparel product and construction.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to think conceptually and drive design concepts.
- Proficient computer skills on Apple Mac, PC, or VR (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, CAD, Gravity sketch, etc.).
- Experience with 3D programs (Clo3D, Browzwear, VStitcher, Rhino, Modo, ICAD Pro, or similar tools).
- Fluent in English (oral & written).
Education and Experience
- BA or MA in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Textile, or relevant Design subject, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Passion for Adidas and its mission.
- Passion for sports, culture, and design.
